As Commissioner, Nafisa is prioritizing affordable housing, homelessness, transportation, and environmental protection for her constituents. She is focused on creating a more inclusive and sustainable future for everyone in Washington County.

    • Launching of the Encampment Management Program- a multidisciplinary temporary program launched in 2021 in response to an increase in unsheltered homelessness across Washington County.

    • Sponsored an effort to conduct a feasibility study regarding tiny pod villages in Washington County.

    • Opening of 3 tiny pod villages in Washington County (Hillsboro, Cornelius, Aloha) .

    • 427 affordable housing units created including Heartwood Commons in Aloha and The Mary Ann in Beaverton.

    • 839 under construction and expected to be completed by the end of 2024 including Cedar Rising, formerly Aloha Family Housing, South Cooper Mountain Project, and Altura (Formerly Goldcrest Apartments).

    • $68 Million in Affordable Housing Properties Rehabilitation Portfolio including Holly Tree Village in Beaverton and Marilann Terrace in Aloha.

    • Accelerating housing construction in the county through a streamlined permitting process improvement to help reduce bureaucratic delay.

    • Advocated homeownership investments to create wealth-building opportunities.

    • Expanding the use of duplexes, triplexes, and other “infill” housing to create more homes without impacting greenspaces or farmland.

    • Supported new rules to allow the construction of duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhouses, and cottage cluster developments in all urban residential districts to add housing without impacting greenspaces and farmland.

    • Advocated Farmington Road safety-focused infill lighting pilot program to illuminate certain segments of Farmington Road.

    • Championed Allen Boulevard Complete Street Plan to be included in the 2025-27 cycle of Regional Flexible Funding project list.

    • Board Representative on the Regional Toll Advisory Committee, Statewide Toll Rulemaking Advisory Committee, and Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation Metro.

    • Appointed to a leadership position on transportation within the National Association of Counties.

    • Authored and introduced an Amendment to invest $8.9 Million of ARPA funds into community resilience.

    • Introduced and passed an Amendment to ban Flavored Tobacco and Menthol in Washington County.

    • Supported the established residential pickup of food waste to reduce the County’s carbon footprint and landfill use.
